Recently our IT staff went to a LANDesk training where it was indicated using Integrated Security would be the best remote control option to use. We had been using NT Security but being as there will be some laptops outside of the domain and always offsite, we felt we should investigate this option.
When trying to initate remote control to a machine in Integrated Security mode, we get:
"Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5)"
The only time we're NOT seeing this so far is if the remote control initiator is on the SAME NETWORK as the core server. The target computer does not seem to matter (same network, another network, over vpn, through management gateway). Go in the other direction and it's a fail.
I have gone through as many of the diagnostic steps searching the forum as I can. Ports are open, the web services on the core come up, remote control is open, etc. It seems to always fail. If I turn on the client logging i get:
Thu, 03 Jul 2008 11:32:36 Remote control action Initiated from YYYY by user XXXX, Security Type:
Where there are blanks after action, and security type. Something isn't right here.
Has anyone run into this or have any new ideas? Thanks!
