Remote control service causing Windows explorer to slow

$

For some time now our users have been complaining of  very slow response times from Windows Explorer or the dialog boxes in applications when accessing the file system (eg File > Open).

Most times it can take upwards of 30 seconds to present a usable interface. We have found that restarting the LANDesk Remote control service temporarily stops the problem. Unfortunately, I need a permanent fix as it's getting to the stage where I might have to dump LANDesk as our remote control solution.

Has anyone fixed this issue or can you please give me any pointers as to what to try?

Please help,

Andy

Remote Control Viewer in Citrix Issue

We have the Remote Console published in Citrix and recently made it available for more tech's to use. When we did this  we found an issue with Remote Control via Citrix.

Only one person can use remote control at a time when in the Citrix console (by right clicking a device and selecting Remote Control). If another person is using it, or if for some reason the issproxy.exe process hung, other remote control sessions don't work.

We've contacted LD support, but their canned answer is that "Citrix is not supported".

Our citrix box is 2008 R2. Not real sure of the citrix version, but I can find out.

Does anyone else use a Citrix or TS console? Have you run into this and do you know if there are any work arounds?

Trying to remote control - get unable to find web service

I'm on version 9.0.2.3 of Landesk Management Suite. I'm logged into the LanDesk managemetn Console on the core server and when I try to remote control a PC I get an error: Unable to find the remote control Web service on "CORE SERVER NAME GOES HERE" followed by a "Credencials Required" screen asking for my username/password/domain. Entering in that info doesn't help - it cycles back to the same "Credencials Required" screen.

This is a new error after having it work for several months, from memory last week LanDesk Management Console crashed on me and I had to terminate the .exe using Task Manager, ever since then this issue cropped up. I tried a reinstall. I tried installing the .Net 1.1 as per the support documents, but aren't clear exactly what needs to be done as those support documents reference a previous version of IIS (I'm on 6.1)

Any help greatly appreciated.

thank you

RC Viewer Upgrade Issue

$

Greetings,

I've been tasked with performing an upgrade on about 450 users, from RC Viewer 8.0, to version 9.5.  Currently, we have a batch file that looks like the following:

"C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ServerManager\RCViewer\isscntr.exe" /u /s

RD /S /Q "C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ServerManager\RCViewer\"

The problem is that it's not a truly silent uninstall, which is what we need.  The upgrade will take place overnight, so there can be zero user interaction.  If we run it with users logged in, they will get prompted to delete files after a reboot, because the DLLs are in use and can not be deleted.  If we run it with no user logged in, they will then get prompted the same upon login.  The dialog box prevents the task from successfully completing.

Ideally, I'm looking for the best method to have a no-user-interaction uninstall of RC Viewer 8.0, which is then replaced by RC Viewer 9.0.

I tried creating an MSi package using the ENURC Installer from the core, but that didn't work either.

Any suggestions?

thx, rs

Unable to remote control machines w/Windows 7

I just setup Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit on my laptop and installed the LANDesk Management Console 8.8 sp3 and the console comes up and runs correctly but when I try to remote a machine the window pops up like it is going to connect but then goes away.  Works fine on my XP Pro 32 bit machine.  Any ideas?

Remote Control from a Windows 7 PC - No File Transfer?

Environment Info:  v9.0 SP1

Im attempting to remote control from a windows 7 PC to a windows xp machine and File Transfer is not listed in the menu.  The Icon is still there but when I click it an error occurs:

Win7RCError.GIF

On others no error is even displayed, you click on the icon and nothing happens, no window opens up like its supposed to.  Also if you go to my computer on the Win7 pc you don't seee the remote control drive.

Is this a limitation of the current viewer?  Is there a workaround?  is a patch available or being developed?

Thanks,

Dan

Last week we started having the issue where when we use LDMS to remote control a computer and have getting the following errorlandesk error.PNG

It acts like it connects, but still displays the black screen and doesn't allow us to connect. On the remote machine it shows that I am connected, but I cannot control it, or view the screen.

We've restarted services, the core server, and have been looking over the forums, but have not seen any issues that mention this issue. Any help would be appreciated

Remote desktop in LANDESK

Hi,

I would need some advises on configuring LANDESK's remote control feature, this is what we want to do:

1. By default, all PCs are enabled with LANDESK remote control feature. User will be prompted and grant permission before LANDESK operator/admin can remote control the PC.

2. Now, we have some PCs where we want to remote control without the need of user permissions to troubleshoot some issues. We want to restrict the remote access without user interaction to 1 or 2 LANDESK operators only, not to all remote control operators.

I know that we can create separate set of LANDESK agent to be able to remote control without user permission.

But it does not restrict to approved LANDESK remote control operator only. All LANDESK operators with remote control access can remote control the PC without permission.

What we want is only allow approved administrator to remote control the PC without permission while the rest of the LANDESK operator follows the normal procedures (user gets prompt to ask for remote control access. If the user click "Yes", only one can remote control the screen).

I can't figure out how to restrict the permission to particular admin only.

Is there a way to do this? I am using LANDESK 9, SP2.

Appreciate if someone can shred some lights on this.

Thanks.

"Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5)." 9.0 SP2

I am running LDMS 9.0 SP2. I have an issue where some of my clients return the error code "Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5)."

We are using the default of Integrated Security set on the agents. I switched the COM+ user for LANDESK and LANDESK1 in the component services section to a Domain User that has permissions to enumerate the domain and I set the "Leave running when idle" radio button.

My COM+ user is in the Management Suite group on my core server and I am in the Administrators group, but get this error.

To this point I have tried the all of the following, found from searching this error throughout the forums.

  • Ensure the user is part the LANDesk Management Suite group. <CHECK>
  • Verify that the Console is patched to the same level as      the Core, (even if installed after the Core was updated). <CHECK>
  • Verify that the LANDesk Management Agent is running on      the machine.  If it is not running or will not start, run the      cba8inst.msi file in c:\program files\LANDesk\ldclient. <CHECK>
  • Attempt to browse http://{Agent Nameor_IP_Address}:9595 ** On this on I found that through an nMap scan some of my trouble systems had port 9595 filtered. a Netstat -an reveled that 0.0.0.0:9595 was listening but not ip.address:9595 I uninstalled the agent and reinstalled (after a reboot) and that fixed the 1 or 2 straglers. Although my corporate office is pushing a GPO that doesn't allow my Win Enterprise systems to have the port open. (But that is another isue)
  • On the Agent create a text file titled isswuser32.log      in the C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient directory, attempt Remote      Control, check it for errors. Verify that the Remote Control Viewer is not      to set to use “Enable old agent compatibility (pre 8.5 agents)” in Tools      > Options. Note: RC-11047587.2 addresses this issue. < This will not work. The error code I get act as though the client system isn't event processing the request.

Being stubborn, I have tried to read up on everything and trouble shoot this myself, however I need some advice before I open a ticket with LANdesk.

Anything jump out that I am missing??

Can't remote control client in 9.5+SP1

Hi All,

I have a client which used to be fine on RC functuion in 9.0 and 9.5. After upgrade to SP1, it is quite weird. Here is what I did:

1. Install SP1 on 9.5 Core server

2. Uninstall client agent with "FORCECLEAN" switch and reboot by using UninstallWinClient.exe from the upgraded core.

3. Install new agent from the upgraded core and reboot.

4. The client icon in the console shows that the remote control service is responded. Do remote control from the console and then the connection failed after a while.

The client runs on Win 7 x64.

I open the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\LDClient to the client\rcgui.log" with continuing logs as below in the client hard drive:

Mon, 22 Jul 2013 15:41:25 RCGUI Connected to socket

It looks like never stop from the log file. Is it a problem? This does not happen on other clients which are working correctly. And idea?

Thanks for helping in advance.

rcgui.exe starting multiple times

$

We are seeing problems with multiple rcgui executables running. When a technian tries to connect using LD remote control more rcgui.exe start but the current process is still running and therefore a new rcgui process starts up. This is causing the techian not to be able to connect and only gets a black screen. So in this case ending the process for issuer.exe only kills 1 of the rcgui.exe but the others remain. The only work around we have found is having the user reboot their PC which doesn't help when trying to fix a issue. Does anyone know how to stop the multiple rcgui.exe or kill all of them without rebooting? Stopping the LANDesk remote control service only kills 1 rcgui.exe process.

We are on LD 9 no service pack. We have also tested on LD9 SP2 and have the same issues.

Remote Control starts automatically

I have a strange issue on my Windows 7 machine. I use LDMS 9.0.2.3 SP2 and since yesterday the Remote Control starts without me asking it to start. It tries to open a connection to the last machine that I contacted.

This morning was even stranger. The Remote Control started even without me having started the Management Suite on my machine.

Thing is that it looks kinda stupid if your machine tries to connect to a user session without you asking it to do so.

Every hint is welcome.

Remote Control Console for Mozilla Prompt - Odd Behaviour

I have a user that gets prompted with "LANDesk Remote Control Console for Mozilla" and is looking for the LANDesk Remote Control Console for Mozilla.msi whenever he right clicks to do a copy paste (strange behaviour).  Anyone seen this before?  Suggestions?  Where can I get a copy of the msi?  Maybe I could load it on his PC locally and have him select it when he is prompted.

Thx

Hi to All,

I have tried to read most of the available solutions but to no avail.

I am able to do remote control via Remote Web Console, but I am unable to use RCViewer("isscntr.exe") to perform the same function.

Location: C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ServerManager\RCViewer

Does anyone encountered the same problem as me?

Filename: isscntr.exe

Version: 8.80.0.249

Would appreciate any help available.

Thanks so much!

End support for classic RC Viewer

I am trying to understand what it would take for full adoption of HTML remote control so that we could EOL the old viewer. I know HTML is missing several key features to have parity with the Classic viewer. What are the missing features preventing you from adopting HTML remote control as your primary viewer?

I would like to have a scheduled task available that would allow me to disable the permission required prompt when using remote control.  I would also like to have a task enable it also.  I have done this in the past but cannot remember how to accomplish this.
