Disable ask for remote control permission for one machine

Hi,

We have a policy in place through Landesk where the agent asks for permission to connect to a user's machine. One user has 2 machines at their desk. They would like to use Landesk to connect to the 2nd machine without being asked for permission. Is that possible?

Some of my servers do not display for remote control.  I have three identical servers.  One works correctly.  Two display only a black screen when using remote control.  Web console does not work.  Mirror driver and screen blanking is off.  Any ideas?

Disable Remote keyboard/mouse access

I have a customer that wants to be able to view what is happening on a remote PC, but does not want to have any keyboard/mouse access. Can you disable the KB/Mouse in the RCViewer on the controling PC? This is only 1 PC and will have a limited number of users remotely viewing it. This is the first time I've had a request like this and it is a little odd but I hope I can do it via Landesk.

"Remote Control" not available to Core Server

My assistant and I just got new computers and a new laptop. All three are 64-bit with Windows 7 Professional. We've installed the LANDesk Console on all three. When we right click on the Core Server we do not have the option for Remote Control. The Remote Control feature is available for all other computers.

On our old Windows XP and Windows Vista machines you can remote to the Core Server.

Any ideas on how to get this feature back in Windows 7?

We can RDP to it but the LANDesk Remote Control feature is our preference.

We are using Version 9 with Service Pack 2.

Hi just curious if there is a way to not be prompted for LANDesk credentials when remote controlling via HTML5 ?

I know if you use the RC tool viewer on machines with no console they dont have to put a user and password in..

We have the certs in place to stop the unsecure message but want to know if anyone is using any single sign on to bypass the credentials prompt...

Hello !

I hope you could help concerning an issue I am facing : a computer (a lot of computer are working perfectly) which does not have the remote control icon = not able to remote control.

I tried:

  • Http://computer:9595 is working
  • Telnet 9535 is working both sides (CoreServer, Client)
  • I deployed again and again the agent
  • I ran cba8inst.msi
  • I ran issuser.exe /resident

...and the icon is still absent.

I have only this clue when I created the isswuser32.log :

Credentials Required

When attempting to connect to certain machines we are prompted with, "Credentials Required".

"The currently logged-in users does not have rights to access the remote computer.  You must provide the user name, password, and domain of an account that is authorized to control the remote computer."

The account we are using is authorized.  We are all 8.8 SP3 and XP SP2.  Any ideas out there?

I have read the articles available for this issue, but they don't seem to apply to us and they are over a year old.

I can browse to http://{Agent_Name}:9595 and Simple File Sharing is not enabled.

Enable HTML Remote Control for "IT Help Desk"

Hello -

Hoping this is something dumb I've missed.  Is there somewhere specific I have to enable HTML Remote Control for a user role - in addition to the standard Remote Control?

Our "IT Help Desk" users have Remote Control Tools enabled, including View and Edit for the "Remote Control" feature.  Direct and Gateway Remote Control work fine for them, for user on LAN and WAN - no issues that I am aware of.  Both the "LANDesk Administrator" and "IT Help Desk" roles appear the same in the configuration - screen print is below.

They are unable to use the HTML Remote Control feature though.  After entering credentials they receive a pop-up that states "Message from webpage - Invalid username, password, or domain!".

If it matters, they are local administrators on the workstations.

The HTML Remote Control feature works for users with the "LANDesk Administrator" role (which have only "user" local rights on the target workstations).

I have tested from the same source machine and source browser to the same target machines.  In all cases the issue persists - it functions for users with "LANDesk Administrator" role, but not "IT Help Desk" role.

We're running 9.5 SP2.

Thanks!

LANDESK Remote Control - Gateway Mode

I currently have LDMS 2016 SU10.0.3 and when our LANDESK Remote Control agent is on "Gateway mode", the "Computer Name:" field is blank.

Gateway.PNG

Before we upgraded from LDMS 9.5 to 2016, I'm pretty sure the computer name was showing up there. I made a call with Support and I was told that computer name is not showing for them either.  He spoke with his peers and they said that it's suppose to be working as intended and told me to put in an enhancement request.

Anybody know how to get this working?

Any help will be appreciated!!

issuser (remote control) never switches to core from CSA

I have PCs that are always offsite and of course on bootup can't find our core and connect to the CSA. The users then VPN in but the remote control service is still stuck connected to the CSA and doesn't drop that and connect directly to the core. Is there anyway to update this? I've read a lot of things and it seems like this was to be fixed in 9.6 sometime.

Good afternoon.  We are running LANDEsk console 2016.  Version 10.1.0.168.  I have a colleague who, when trying to use the File Transfer feature in LANDesk, can only see his own drive and PC.  He cannot access the drive on the remote PC he is trying to access.  Is there any kind of fix for that?  He's running the same version of everything and I am, and everything works for me.

Remote Desktop problem with Windows 7 VM

$

We use a mix of both physical machines and VM consoles that use the same Windows 7 image. Recently we found out that if you initiate a LANDesk Remote Control  Viewer to a VM it will not allow you to interact with the user who's already logged in. Instead, it will bring you to the Alt-Ctrl-Del screen. If you press Alt-Ctrl-Del, it will show that a user is already logged in.

I'm pretty sure Win7 by default doesn’t allow a user to connect over RDP to “Session 0” which would prevent a remote control application from working. I believe all remote control apps (pcAnywhere, LD remote control, etc) need a user to be logged in to session 0 in order to work.

Does anyone know if LanDesk has a fix for this? Thank you.
