Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5)

Hello,

I am running LANDesk Management Suite 9.5 SP1 with about 480 nodes.  We have never had issues with remote control until very recently.  Every time we use the integrated remote control in the LANDesk Management Suite we get the following syntax:

-Attempting to contact remote computer on (IP Address; FQDN)

-Trying to connect to (IP Address) using TCP

-The remote computer on (IP Address) was contacted using TCP.

(x)Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5).

(x)Unable to send a request to the remote computer.

We have made no changes to our infrastructure or agent or server.  One day it worked, the next it did not.  This happens on all machines we attempt to remote control.  Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Credentials Required

When attempting to connect to certain machines we are prompted with, "Credentials Required".

"The currently logged-in users does not have rights to access the remote computer.  You must provide the user name, password, and domain of an account that is authorized to control the remote computer."

The account we are using is authorized.  We are all 8.8 SP3 and XP SP2.  Any ideas out there?

I have read the articles available for this issue, but they don't seem to apply to us and they are over a year old.

I can browse to http://{Agent_Name}:9595 and Simple File Sharing is not enabled.

Can't contact remote computer using LANDesk PDS2 discovery.

I am using LANDesk 9 Service Pack1.  I tried to connect to a PC today and recieved the error "Can't contact remote computer using LANDesk PDS2 discovery."  I read a couple articles that said to make sure ports 9595 and 9535 are not blocked.  When I scan the ports, I see 9535 is open and no listing for 9595.  I scanned a machine that I had just remoted into and the same ports were listed: 9535 was there and 9595 was not.

Does anyone have more information as to why I may be recieving this error?

Thank you

Remote Control via IP address

We're having issues with DNS and need an option in that the technician can just specify the IP address if they need to remote control.  Since we can't exactly trust the IP address in the LANDesk database, I need a way for them to be able to initiate remote control without specifying a machine in the database.  Is there another way to kick off Remote Control from the management console?  Or from Run?  I would like to be able to get to the "Start Connection" window without having to initiate a remote control and then canceling it.

Thanks!

Here's the problem, I have to remote control more than 50 pc's to upgrade some drivers, Howerver I am not able to remote control more than 1 at the time. Every time I remote control more than 1 pc at the same time, some of my keyboard keys will stop working, my keyboard would work just fine on my computer, but some of the keys wont work on the remote computer, to fix this I have to reboot the remote computer and a Landesk session.
Advice please.

Error while establishing remote connection

Hi all,

I get an error message when i try to use the LANDesk Remote Control  ("Unable to send a request to the remote computer")

The LANDesk Remote Control starts via a command which is send by a "Self-programmed-Tool". The tool always runs in the domain administrator context and not as the current logged-in user.

- When I start the remote control with the current logged-in user, i have no problems to get a connection to the client.

- But when I use the tool to connect to the client, I get the errormessage

- The programm code which start the remote control cannot run as the current logged in user!

It looks like only the current logged-in-user can establish remote connections.

Is there any possibility to fix this? Or is there any trick...

Thanks, and in case for some english mistakes, .... sorry ;-)

Shared Clipboard in Landesk Remote control stops working

$

Hello,

I`m Servicedesk agent in my company and we are using Landesk Remote Control version 9.01.0.122. On Windows 7 Enterprise x64 I am often having the problem that after ~2 days the shared clipboard between my comp and the one which i controll is not working anymore. The problem starts at the connection part: i want to connect to a comp, the user gets the confirmation dialog, accepts the connection then I get the blue edge around the Landesk window then the Landesk window is not responding for a few seconds, then finally unfreezes, the edge turns yellow and finally I can control the remote pc. At this point everything works except the shared clipboard (no copy between computers possible) and the connection to the remote computers drives via Windows Explorer also is not working. Untill now the only fix I found is to reboot my computer. But I have to do this every 2 days and in the environment where I work this is really frustrating because I have to startup tons of tools.

The Landesk "experts" in my company have no idea how to fix this, I have bombed them with tons of email but they ignore me and I do not have the time and knowledge to troubleshoot it.

Please, please help me solve this issue.

Kind regards,

Ivan LASZIK.

Pending Restart - RDP causes pc to reboot

On LDMS 90 sp3...  Basically, when one of us from IT is out on a client pc & needs to connect back to our own pc to access AD or some other tool, if we have a restart pending from landesk, the pc will restart after we disconnect the Remote Desktop session.

Has anyone else experienced this & is there a way to stop it?

Thanks!

Dave

I've noticed that all my LANDesk 9.5 SP1 Agents all say that they have FIPS 140-2 enabled even though I havent explicitly enabled this on the core or on our Cloud Services Appliance.

Anyone else seeing the same behavior?

remote control on LANDesk 9.6

So we successfully completed the standup of a new LANDesk 9.6 server using Server 2012 and we were able to use the console to talk to the 9.0 agents that still existed and then push out the new 9.60.3.64 client.  The question or challenge that i have now is why some of those computers are not registering the binoculars or mouse symbols when viewing them in console.  I can remote into them via HTML5, I can see that they have the most updated client and the correct user and I know the machine(s) are online so they why no binoculars or mouse so that we can use console based remote control?

I'm hoping to troubleshoot but also understand how exactly that process works.

Thanks in advance.

Bad remote control performance on Win8.1

Hi all,

We're facing a lot of issues with our LDMS 9.6Sp1 when we use remote control on Win 8.1 clients.

In fact we are experiencing an extremely slow response when we connect on these clients and controlling the remote machine is nearly impossible.

The same problem was also present in LDMS 9.5 which we recently upgraded in the hope of resolving the problem.

Remote control is working normally on other clients (WinXp, Win7).

A fact that we noticed is that on Win8.1 the mirror driver is installed, but, when we connect using remote control, the status panel in the tray bar says that the mirror driver is not in use.

On Win7/Xp the mirror driver is used when we connect, so we suspect this is the problem.

We also tried to uninstall our antivirus client (SEP12) but to no avail.

Does anybody have any clue on this trouble?

Thank you all.

Best regards,

Andrea

Remote Chat

Does anyone know if there is a way to configure chat through the remote control console so that it doesn't ask for permission? I still want send a chat request to remote users with out having them accept the chat request. I want a box to pop up on their screen with a message. I have had scenarios where a desktop isn't near a phone and the user is not at the desk to accept the request for me to send a message to call me when they are available. I don't want to change the security feature where permission needs to be granted for remote control.

Thanks

Howard

Remote Control Configuration

I’m having difficult time configuring remote control.  If I set the agent for “Permission not needed” it works fine.  However, I consistently receive the message “You do not have rights to access the remote computer” when any “End user must grant permission” is selected.
RC is being attempted from the LD Core server

I am logged in with the account that installed LD and acct is a domain admin with rights on the local workstation and is in the LanDesk Administrators group.

I can RDP to the workstation with this account.

It doesn't matter what info, if any I add into the "Remote Control operator groups"  or whether the box is unchecked.  When I went through the config w/ professional svcs, these boxes were left blank.

Disabling or Removing the LANDesk Remote Control Mirror Driver

$

We have found an issue with the installed remote control mirror driver on our systems.  It interferes with our Unix thin client installations when we remote into these systems.  It appears that you really have no choice when installing the client agent with Remote Control capabilities as to whether the mirror driver gets installed or not, is this correct?  I've tried unchecking the settings within the agent configuration to not use the mirror driver under Remote Control | Indicators | Agent Settings and then rolling out an agent update, but this doesn't seem to change anything.  The only way I've found to remove the mirror driver is either disabling it or totally removing it from Device Manager.  I found another thread that stated the mirror driver used to be in Add/Remove Programs, but was removed in later versions by LANDesk.  We are running v8.8 SP1.  I'm primarily looking for an easy way to either disable or remove the mirror driver from all of our clients through LANDesk.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

Remote control viewer is not installed properly.

I have a new install of Landesk 9.  All of the web console users get an error that the remote control viewer is not installed properly.  We have set the Internet options properly per the document that seems to end all other discussions on this thread, but we still get the error.  We have registered execviewer2.dll and installed enurcsetup.exe.  What else could be happening?
