rcgui.exe starting multiple times

$

We are seeing problems with multiple rcgui executables running. When a technian tries to connect using LD remote control more rcgui.exe start but the current process is still running and therefore a new rcgui process starts up. This is causing the techian not to be able to connect and only gets a black screen. So in this case ending the process for issuer.exe only kills 1 of the rcgui.exe but the others remain. The only work around we have found is having the user reboot their PC which doesn't help when trying to fix a issue. Does anyone know how to stop the multiple rcgui.exe or kill all of them without rebooting? Stopping the LANDesk remote control service only kills 1 rcgui.exe process.

We are on LD 9 no service pack. We have also tested on LD9 SP2 and have the same issues.

Hi All,

We are using Landesk management suite 9.0 SP2, Here the thing is when we try to take a remote control , we can't able to take the remote of the client machine even it has the landesk agent...we are getting the error "Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5)., Unable to locate the remote control" in the remote control console, always it's showing the machine is in offline under all devices like red color circle...eventhough that machine in online, it's not showing like remote icon as well as binocular icon under all devices in landesk console.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue and how can I take the remote control of that machine?

Thanks,

Paramaguru

Credentials Required

When attempting to connect to certain machines we are prompted with, "Credentials Required".

"The currently logged-in users does not have rights to access the remote computer.  You must provide the user name, password, and domain of an account that is authorized to control the remote computer."

The account we are using is authorized.  We are all 8.8 SP3 and XP SP2.  Any ideas out there?

I have read the articles available for this issue, but they don't seem to apply to us and they are over a year old.

I can browse to http://{Agent_Name}:9595 and Simple File Sharing is not enabled.

Issues remoting to a pc

While attempting to remote to a users computer I am only able to pull up a blank screen. I can remote to them through remote desktop connection but unable to in landesk. I am able to remote to several other computers including some in the same are as the problem pc. I have performed a full sync and redeployed the agent configuration but those dont appear to have helped. I am new to LANDesk so I am not sure what other steps to take. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

issuser (remote control) never switches to core from CSA

I have PCs that are always offsite and of course on bootup can't find our core and connect to the CSA. The users then VPN in but the remote control service is still stuck connected to the CSA and doesn't drop that and connect directly to the core. Is there anyway to update this? I've read a lot of things and it seems like this was to be fixed in 9.6 sometime.

Random Reboots

Hello. Just wondering if anyone has seen this issue before. A few random users mentioned that they received a LANDesk 10 second countdown/reboot box. I checked software distribution/vulscan and remote control logs and can't find anything initiating this reboot or being installed on the machines in question. Anyone have an idea of what might initiate this reboot?

thanks!

We are trying to remote control across two different networks - just a quick question - does the ping port have to be opened?  Any other port(s) besides tcp 9535 that need to be opened to support remote control?  Using Management Console v8.8.  Thanks.

Does anyone know if there are plans of supporting Andriod OS? Or is there already a way to remotely control mobile units with android? Is there already an agent app to install?

Just wondering... would be nice if it was supported.

Hi,

We have a policy in place through Landesk where the agent asks for permission to connect to a user's machine. One user has 2 machines at their desk. They would like to use Landesk to connect to the 2nd machine without being asked for permission. Is that possible?

Can't remote control while on battery

Anyone ever seen a problem with trying to remote control from a laptop while on battery.? This is using the LDMS remote console.

I can plug the laptop in and the remote control window comes up normally. If I unplug the laptop and click on remote control, it does nothing. No remote window even appears.

I am running Windows 7 pro x64. Both power policies for plugged in and unplugged are the same in Windows.

Design own web interface for Remote Control

How can I design my own web interface for remote control?  We have multiple cores across various locations and we want to make it easy for the help desk to choose the location and type in the IP address.  We have something designed (see image) but do not have access to the source data due to an employee leaving the company and want to redesign it and have the source data to make updates as needed.

Please let me know how we can recreate this.  Thanks!

Computer not in your scope (until you query the scope)

I have a recurring problem where my help desk cannot remote control a computer because it is not in their scope. All I have to do to fix it is login with the console and 'Show Devices' on the scope. Then the machine will show up in the scope and my help desk can remote control it. The scope is defined that they can remote control anything that isn't an admin machine or a server OS. I am running 8.8 SP3.

Should the scope be 'refreshing' itself at a specific interval? How does that all work?

Remote Control starts automatically

I have a strange issue on my Windows 7 machine. I use LDMS 9.0.2.3 SP2 and since yesterday the Remote Control starts without me asking it to start. It tries to open a connection to the last machine that I contacted.

This morning was even stranger. The Remote Control started even without me having started the Management Suite on my machine.

Thing is that it looks kinda stupid if your machine tries to connect to a user session without you asking it to do so.

Every hint is welcome.

Remote Control Viewer in Citrix Issue

We have the Remote Console published in Citrix and recently made it available for more tech's to use. When we did this  we found an issue with Remote Control via Citrix.

Only one person can use remote control at a time when in the Citrix console (by right clicking a device and selecting Remote Control). If another person is using it, or if for some reason the issproxy.exe process hung, other remote control sessions don't work.

We've contacted LD support, but their canned answer is that "Citrix is not supported".

Our citrix box is 2008 R2. Not real sure of the citrix version, but I can find out.

Does anyone else use a Citrix or TS console? Have you run into this and do you know if there are any work arounds?

"Remote Control" not available to Core Server

My assistant and I just got new computers and a new laptop. All three are 64-bit with Windows 7 Professional. We've installed the LANDesk Console on all three. When we right click on the Core Server we do not have the option for Remote Control. The Remote Control feature is available for all other computers.

On our old Windows XP and Windows Vista machines you can remote to the Core Server.

Any ideas on how to get this feature back in Windows 7?

We can RDP to it but the LANDesk Remote Control feature is our preference.

We are using Version 9 with Service Pack 2.
