9.5 Console - File Transfer during Remote Control missing
After upgrading the Core to 9.5 went around to everyone(12 helpdesk folks) system and upgraded their remote console to 9.5 from 9.0sp3. Every remote console seems to work properly execept the File Transfer button and Remote Execute box are missing while performing a remote control via Direct or Gateway. Console on the Core works fine, console on our Terminal Server works fine. Its not a rights issue. Anyone else seen this?
Remote control not working once secondary DNS has been removed
Hi Team,
I am having some issue with remote control, same is as followed.
Recently we have demoted one of the secondary dns server since then remote control is not working, in place of secondary dns we have created one more dns server & put the same on the network adaptor, so is there any dependency of secondary dns on core server? will there any settings required if I will remove secondary dns & replaced with new one? your help will be appreciated.

Remote Control Multiple Screens
Hi there,
Just upgraded to LD9 SP3. We have users with two and three screens at their desks. RC used to default to a single screen with auto-scroll, but after the upgrade (client is SP3 too) it forces the two or three user monitors into a single window making it very difficult to read.
Is there a way to specify you only want to use one screen at a time?
We primarliy launch RC from the web console.

Can't remote control while on battery
Anyone ever seen a problem with trying to remote control from a laptop while on battery.? This is using the LDMS remote console.
I can plug the laptop in and the remote control window comes up normally. If I unplug the laptop and click on remote control, it does nothing. No remote window even appears.
I am running Windows 7 pro x64. Both power policies for plugged in and unplugged are the same in Windows.
Keyboard keys are mapped strange when DE controlling US system
Hey,
when I am connected to a client PC with the RC some of the Keyboard keys are assigned really strange. I would get used to it when it would switch to the US Keyboard layout but it doesn't do that for all keys. what could be a possible reason for this?
Controllers OS: German XP SP3
Controlled OS: US XP SP3
I did encounter this in the past a few times, but since now, we hadn't to remote control that many US clients. So this issue pops up now.

My help desk is stating that the remote control agent keeps on switching from direct mode to gateway mode. Once rebooted it goes back direct mode. The RM agent can be switch manually.
Has anyone seen this issue?

9.5 SP1 - Trusting the HTML Remote Control SSL Cert
Upgraded to 9.5 SP1
I have followed the procedure to import the supplied SSL Root Cert into our AD from this article: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-28617
However, when I navigate to a HTML remote Control session I am still getting SSL Cert errors.
The problem is that the supplied Cert for import has a completely different Issuer string than the one used by the installed Agents.
Issuer String from Imported SSL Cert:
CN = www.landesk.com
C = US
S = Utah
L = South Jordan
OU = HTML5 Remote Control
O = LANDesk(R) Management Suite
Issuer String from HTML RC Session:
CN = LANDesk Software (http://www.landesk.com)
C = US
S = Utah
L = South Jordan
O = LANDesk Software
As the CNs do not match the SSL Cert will always error . . .
Can this be fixed ASAP ? Possibly issue a new SSL Cert to import into AD ? The new Cert will need to have the same issuer string as the one from the HTML RC Session.

Remote Control log reports multiple Stop actions without any previous Start
Looking the "Remote Control History by Operator" report there are multiple "stop" actions without its coresponding "start" action. For instance there is a "Start" action and three or four stop actions for the same "Start" action.
Does any body knows what does these multiple "Stop" actions means and why there is only one related "Start" action?
Any ideas?

We are using Landesk Management Suite 9.0 SP4 with mostly Windows 7 Enterprise SP1.
Issues remoting to a pc
While attempting to remote to a users computer I am only able to pull up a blank screen. I can remote to them through remote desktop connection but unable to in landesk. I am able to remote to several other computers including some in the same are as the problem pc. I have performed a full sync and redeployed the agent configuration but those dont appear to have helped. I am new to LANDesk so I am not sure what other steps to take. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
LANDesk Remote Control Tray Icon on Servers (via Remote Desktop)
On my LANDesk 9.6 server I use the same set of Remote Control settings in both my Windows desktop and server agent configurations. On my Windows desktop clients I can see the "LANDesk Remote Control" icon in the task tray (near the date/time in the bottom right corner). I do not see this icon on my Windows servers. I've confirmed that I am showing all icons.
I've seen similar issues in the past with McAfee, for example, when viewing a computer via remote desktop. In those situations I was able to run an update or show the console, which magically brought the icon back into the tray. I'm assuming the issue is a similar one - maybe it's not a LANDesk issue at all; maybe it is a remote desktop issue (Microsoft).
I'm curious if others have this behavior and if there is a fix. Ideally, I would like to see the LANDesk icon in the task tray with all other icons immediately after logging in via RDP.

i was wondering and its not exactly clear..
is it possible to enable FIPS 140-2 on the server without having the Could Services?
I need to improve the security used for HTML remote control, we dont have the Cloud services add on, and the control pool size doesnt warrent the cost.

How to setup "Request Permission for Remote Control"
We have Landesk 8.7 SP3 [yes I know its out of date] and we have the remote agent deployed to some 1500 machines, so making the change to 8.8 is a bit of a mammoth task, unless there is a short cut.
Anyway onto my question.
If we need to remote control a machine, we just right click and do Remote Control and user doesnt need to give me permission to control their machine or anything like that.
Now one user wants to block this "free" access and wants to click yes please control my pc button, but I do not know how I can do this to just one machine?
Any ideas?

Hi all,
is there any possibilty to scale the remote window?
It very hard to work with remote control if I'm using a 19" monitor and want to connect to 27" Imac or to pc with two 19" monitors.

rcgui.exe starting multiple times
We are seeing problems with multiple rcgui executables running. When a technian tries to connect using LD remote control more rcgui.exe start but the current process is still running and therefore a new rcgui process starts up. This is causing the techian not to be able to connect and only gets a black screen. So in this case ending the process for issuer.exe only kills 1 of the rcgui.exe but the others remain. The only work around we have found is having the user reboot their PC which doesn't help when trying to fix a issue. Does anyone know how to stop the multiple rcgui.exe or kill all of them without rebooting? Stopping the LANDesk remote control service only kills 1 rcgui.exe process.
We are on LD 9 no service pack. We have also tested on LD9 SP2 and have the same issues.
Some Keyboard keys would stop work when remote controlling more than 1 pc at the time
Here's the problem, I have to remote control more than 50 pc's to upgrade some drivers, Howerver I am not able to remote control more than 1 at the time. Every time I remote control more than 1 pc at the same time, some of my keyboard keys will stop working, my keyboard would work just fine on my computer, but some of the keys wont work on the remote computer, to fix this I have to reboot the remote computer and a Landesk session.
Advice please.
