Shared Clipboard in Landesk Remote control stops working

Hello,

 

I`m Servicedesk agent in my company and we are using Landesk Remote Control version 9.01.0.122. On Windows 7 Enterprise x64 I am often having the problem that after ~2 days the shared clipboard between my comp and the one which i controll is not working anymore.The problem starts at the connection part: i want to connect to a comp, the user gets the confirmation dialog, accepts the connection then I get the blue edge around the Landesk window then the Landesk window is not responding for a few seconds, then finally unfreezes, the edge turns yellow and finally I can control the remote pc. At this point everything works except the shared clipboard (no copy between computers possible) and the connection to the remote computers drives via Windows Explorer also is not working. Untill now the only fix I found is to reboot my computer. But I have to do this every 2 days and in the environment where I work this is really frustrating because I have to startup tons of tools.

The Landesk "experts" in my company have no idea how to fix this, I have bombed them with tons of email but they ignore me and I do not have the time and knowledge to troubleshoot it.

 

Please, please help me solve this issue.

Remote Control History by Operator - scheduled report

I'd like to take this report & customize it to a specific group of operators & run automatically on a scheduled basis.

 

The report asks for parameters, but I'd like to pre-define the parameters (either on a daily or weekly basis) for a specific list of people across all devices.

 

Any help in modifying the existing or creating a new report would be appreciated.

New remote control agent cab for 9.5?

I use the remote control agent off the broker quite a bit for on demand remote control.  Does anyone know if 9.5 SP1 has a new cab containing all the files?  I was able to find the view cab but not an agent cab file.  But I notice in SP1 several of the rc agent files are new.

Enable HTML Remote Control for "IT Help Desk"

Hello -

Hoping this is something dumb I've missed.  Is there somewhere specific I have to enable HTML Remote Control for a user role - in addition to the standard Remote Control?

 

Our "IT Help Desk" users have Remote Control Tools enabled, including View and Edit for the "Remote Control" feature.  Direct and Gateway Remote Control work fine for them, for user on LAN and WAN - no issues that I am aware of.  Both the "LANDesk Administrator" and "IT Help Desk" roles appear the same in the configuration - screen print is below.

 

They are unable to use the HTML Remote Control feature though.  After entering credentials they receive a pop-up that states "Message from webpage - Invalid username, password, or domain!".

 

If it matters, they are local administrators on the workstations.

 

The HTML Remote Control feature works for users with the "LANDesk Administrator" role (which have only "user" local rights on the target workstations).

 

I have tested from the same source machine and source browser to the same target machines.  In all cases the issue persists - it functions for users with "LANDesk Administrator" role, but not "IT Help Desk" role.

 

We're running 9.5 SP2.

application portal window empty

Hi,

 

I am testing  RC in ldms 9.6 sp1 (Agent deployed is also 96 sp1) .

I noticed that when using HTML remote control and blank the screen, the application portal window is empty.

Issue is not present using standard remote control.

Tried without mirror driver/blank screen driver and got the same issue

 

Have any body comes accross that behaviour?

IP / Name Mismatch?

Some workstations deployed with the LANDesk 8.8 agent have displayed the following error during initiation of remote control:

 

The IP Address of the computer your are attempting to control does not match the IP name on your network. Do you wish to continue?

 

If, indeed, you wish to continue, you mayor may notconnect to thedesired device or another device instead. When connecting to the other

device, it has a different name and IP address. Both the target and the mis-directed device IP and name have been verified outside of LANDesk

to be correct.

 

Ideas?

 

 

Best way to remote into PC from the Field

Hey all,

 

So in our environment, we have many portable machines that are constantly on the move in the field, as well as 10-12 remote locations. Our techs are constantly on the go, and while they are at some of these other locations, they will receive help desk calls that require them to remote into a users machines. On their desktops, they have the full remote client, but when they are out in the field they do not have access to their desktops and need to still be able to remote into machines. We had a portable remote tool created for us, but since I have correctly configured our CSA, it has not been working correctly. Also, our use of the HTML Remote option is limited since we require a warning to the users that someone is trying to remote in, and the HTML Remote does not seem to give that option. What would be the best method so that they can remote while out in the field? Now that I have correctly configured our CSA, is there a way I can create a new portable remote tool?

RC via CSA end user prompt to accept the connection

Under Remote Control Settings there are 4 main options, for security purposes, I need the Client to prompt to accept the connection I have tried all the options with the following results:


Option 1: "Permission not needed, full access"

RESULT: Works fine

Option 2: "End User must grant permission and must be logged in"

RESULT ERROR: Remote User has denied permission to remote control (No prompt)

Option 3: "End User must grant permission but only if they are logged in"

RESULT ERROR: Connects but takes over the machine, only 1 user allowed (logs the normal user out)

Option 4: "End user must grant permission"

RESULT ERROR: Timed out waiting for the remote user to grant permission

Configuring the Agent for CSA connection

So I got our CSA up and running and have confirmed that it is set up correctly. From the core server, I can remote into a machine that is in Gateway mode. The problem that I am having is that the agents that we have installed on our machines seem to sporadically either on gateway or direct mode. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why one machine is on gateway or direct. For our users, a majority that we need to remote to are on Toughbook machines that are on wireless connections. Because of this, gateway mode is a lot better for remote since it does not require an inventory scan each time they change an IP. Using direct mode to remote is very hit or miss for us, and end users get very frustrated with getting the connection going. Is there a way to configure the agent so that for portable machines it is in Gateway mode and desktops are in direct mode?

Lenovo T510 and LANDesk 9 client mirror driver issues?

Anyone running a new Lenovo T510 with WinXP SP3 and LD9 having mirror driver issues?  Whenever I have the mirror driver turned on the screen fills with a ton of colors and I am not able to see the remote screen.  I turn the mirror driver option off and the remote screen comes to life.

 

Multiple Lenovo T510 running XPsp3 and Nvidia drivers.  I have a similar T410 running the same drivers without issues.


Ideas?

Remote Control starts automatically

I have a strange issue on my Windows 7 machine. I use LDMS 9.0.2.3 SP2 and since yesterday the Remote Control starts without me asking it to start. It tries to open a connection to the last machine that I contacted.

This morning was even stranger. The Remote Control started even without me having started the Management Suite on my machine.

Thing is that it looks kinda stupid if your machine tries to connect to a user session without you asking it to do so.

Every hint is welcome.

Disable ask for remote control permission for one machine

Hi,

 

We have a policy in place through Landesk where the agent asks for permission to connect to a user's machine. One user has 2 machines at their desk. They would like to use Landesk to connect to the 2nd machine without being asked for permission. Is that possible?

Remote Control on Lock Workstation doesn't work (anymore)

Hello everybody,

 

Since a year we have a strange behavoiur about our RC.Remote Control on the status of Workstation Locked or waiting for Login (Ctrl+alt+del) doesn't work. In the past we could and we know how important is in some situation. The settings are fine (we haven't changed). I tried set for modem connection, switch off the "keyboard setting", I think I changed everything. The system hangs at "Initializing keyboard filter". I attached a log for example. This happens both RC with the program and HTML. Thank you in advance.

remote control on LANDesk 9.6

So we successfully completed the standup of a new LANDesk 9.6 server using Server 2012 and we were able to use the console to talk to the 9.0 agents that still existed and then push out the new 9.60.3.64 client.  The question or challenge that i have now is why some of those computers are not registering the binoculars or mouse symbols when viewing them in console.  I can remote into them via HTML5, I can see that they have the most updated client and the correct user and I know the machine(s) are online so they why no binoculars or mouse so that we can use console based remote control?

 

I'm hoping to troubleshoot but also understand how exactly that process works.

I’m having difficult time configuring remote control.  If I set the agent for “Permission not needed” it works fine.  However, I consistently receive the message “You do not have rights to access the remote computer” when any “End user must grant permission” is selected.
RC is being attempted from the LD Core server


I am logged in with the account that installed LD and acct is a domain admin with rights on the local workstation and is in the LanDesk Administrators group.

I can RDP to the workstation with this account.

It doesn't matter what info, if any I add into the "Remote Control operator groups"  or whether the box is unchecked.  When I went through the config w/ professional svcs, these boxes were left blank.

What the heck am I missing?


Remote Control Console for Mozilla Prompt - Odd Behaviour

I have a user that gets prompted with "LANDesk Remote Control Console for Mozilla" and is looking for the LANDesk Remote Control Console for Mozilla.msi whenever he right clicks to do a copy paste (strange behaviour).  Anyone seen this before?  Suggestions?  Where can I get a copy of the msi?  Maybe I could load it on his PC locally and have him select it when he is prompted.

Unable to find the remote control web service on 'ServerName'

I have a new install of LD 8.8 SP2 that I have set up to test with. When I try to RC a client from my test core server, I receive the error above and am asked for username/PW, which none work. I have done a search and found the following, but not sure how to add the -s switch, as I am right clicking on a client and selecting Remote Control from the list.

Is it possible to start a remote control seesion on a PC without a console installation. I copid some files like "isscntr" and other and the session started - the request come but i get no remote screen an my PC. have anybocy an idea or a solution - thanks

LDM 9.5: Remote Control does not ask User for Permission

We just got our hand on LANDesk and we are still testing. We use the German Version, so i try to translate all.

My Problem:

 

We installed the clients on two test systems. This worked well till now. But as we try the remote Control we wonder, why the User was not asked for permission.

So we looked into it an found the Checkbox "Ask User for Permission". We activated it, still the User was not asked, so we activated the other check boxes: "Only when User is connected", "Ask for all Features", "Show own Message" (As i said, its translated from German so in English it may be another text, see Screenshot)

But still i can just connect to a machine without the User is asked for permission.

Can somone help?
