We are trying to remote control across two different networks - just a quick question - does the ping port have to be opened? Any other port(s) besides tcp 9535 that need to be opened to support remote control? Using Management Console v8.8. Thanks.

Can't contact remote computer using LANDesk PDS2 discovery.
I am using LANDesk 9 Service Pack1. I tried to connect to a PC today and recieved the error "Can't contact remote computer using LANDesk PDS2 discovery." I read a couple articles that said to make sure ports 9595 and 9535 are not blocked. When I scan the ports, I see 9535 is open and no listing for 9595. I scanned a machine that I had just remoted into and the same ports were listed: 9535 was there and 9595 was not.
Does anyone have more information as to why I may be recieving this error?
Thank you
Features of mirror driver
Hello all,
I had heard that the main purpose of the mirror driver is to speed the video rendering on older computers for remote control. We are on LD 8.8 SP4 and have recently started installing the agent on Win7 machines.
The mirror driver has been killing Aero and I saw that there is a patch to resolve this issue. The vast majority of our Win7 machines are going to be newer, beefier machines. If the mirror driver doesn't do anything beyond speeding a remote session on an older machine, I'm inclined just to remove it.
Anyone have a good justification for patching it and leaving the mirror driver on the agents?
Thanks.
rcgui.exe starting multiple times
We are seeing problems with multiple rcgui executables running. When a technian tries to connect using LD remote control more rcgui.exe start but the current process is still running and therefore a new rcgui process starts up. This is causing the techian not to be able to connect and only gets a black screen. So in this case ending the process for issuer.exe only kills 1 of the rcgui.exe but the others remain. The only work around we have found is having the user reboot their PC which doesn't help when trying to fix a issue. Does anyone know how to stop the multiple rcgui.exe or kill all of them without rebooting? Stopping the LANDesk remote control service only kills 1 rcgui.exe process.
We are on LD 9 no service pack. We have also tested on LD9 SP2 and have the same issues.
Unable to use RCViewer (isscntr.exe) - The logged in user does not have rights to access the remote computer...
Hi to All,
I have tried to read most of the available solutions but to no avail.
I am able to do remote control via Remote Web Console, but I am unable to use RCViewer("isscntr.exe") to perform the same function.
Location: C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ServerManager\RCViewer
Does anyone encountered the same problem as me?
Filename: isscntr.exe
Version: 8.80.0.249
Would appreciate any help available.
Thanks so much!

I would like to disable the "Permission required prompt" when using remote control
I would like to have a scheduled task available that would allow me to disable the permission required prompt when using remote control. I would also like to have a task enable it also. I have done this in the past but cannot remember how to accomplish this.
Disabling or Removing the LANDesk Remote Control Mirror Driver
We have found an issue with the installed remote control mirror driver on our systems. It interferes with our Unix thin client installations when we remote into these systems. It appears that you really have no choice when installing the client agent with Remote Control capabilities as to whether the mirror driver gets installed or not, is this correct? I've tried unchecking the settings within the agent configuration to not use the mirror driver under Remote Control | Indicators | Agent Settings and then rolling out an agent update, but this doesn't seem to change anything. The only way I've found to remove the mirror driver is either disabling it or totally removing it from Device Manager. I found another thread that stated the mirror driver used to be in Add/Remove Programs, but was removed in later versions by LANDesk. We are running v8.8 SP1. I'm primarily looking for an easy way to either disable or remove the mirror driver from all of our clients through LANDesk. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Java Applications not displaying correctly
Hello,
recently I have encountered a problem with the Remote Control of LANDesk. If I start a application which uses Java, the application window isn't displayed correctly. For example the Open Proj (a Project viewer) uses Java, so I installed JRE 6u14 on the client and after that I started the application. If I move the window it looks like the screenshot I attached. And it looks like the app is stucked and doesn't react anymore (like when a application crashes). But the user can see it the right way.
When I use the menu "Optimize performance for..." to change to another connection speed it refreshes the screen and I see the current window. If I click a button or move the window, it seems like stucking again. Then I have to change the connection speed again to see the next window.
Hope someone can help me with this.
Regards
Johann

Remote Control - Current logged in user
We are currently implementing LDMS 9 and I'm trying to figure out the best method for my help desk to easily find a user's computer in order to find remote control. We have many shared computers so, for us, the best method is by username. Users more frequently know their username off the top of their head than the machine name or machine ip. The "owner" field isn't helpful to us because we are in a healthcare environment and staff are moving around a lot from computer to computer. The "owner" rarely reflects who's logged in. Is there a way to get the current logged in user? Especially if you don't yet know what machine they might be logged into?
Side question:
How is "owner" calculated anyway? Does it ever recalculate? Can this be controlled somewhere?
Thanks!
Keyboard error's when remoting to multiple clients at the same time
I have a console user who is remoting into several lab computers off site. He is installing several different software packages, AutoCAD included, which do not work well with deployment.
When he is connected to more than 2 computers, and he uses his windows key on the computer with the console, all the clients seem to have the windows key stuck which then requires a disconnect/re-connect to get the keyboard to work properly.
Has anyone else seen such behavior?
All clients same hardware, Opti 980, with same keyboards, etc. Windows 7.
Thanks for any help

Best way to remote into PC from the Field
Hey all,
So in our environment, we have many portable machines that are constantly on the move in the field, as well as 10-12 remote locations. Our techs are constantly on the go, and while they are at some of these other locations, they will receive help desk calls that require them to remote into a users machines. On their desktops, they have the full remote client, but when they are out in the field they do not have access to their desktops and need to still be able to remote into machines. We had a portable remote tool created for us, but since I have correctly configured our CSA, it has not been working correctly. Also, our use of the HTML Remote option is limited since we require a warning to the users that someone is trying to remote in, and the HTML Remote does not seem to give that option. What would be the best method so that they can remote while out in the field? Now that I have correctly configured our CSA, is there a way I can create a new portable remote tool?
Thanks!

Disable ask for remote control permission for one machine
Hi,
We have a policy in place through Landesk where the agent asks for permission to connect to a user's machine. One user has 2 machines at their desk. They would like to use Landesk to connect to the 2nd machine without being asked for permission. Is that possible?
