Remote desktop in LANDESK

Hi,

I would need some advises on configuring LANDESK's remote control feature, this is what we want to do:

1. By default, all PCs are enabled with LANDESK remote control feature. User will be prompted and grant permission before LANDESK operator/admin can remote control the PC.

2. Now, we have some PCs where we want to remote control without the need of user permissions to troubleshoot some issues. We want to restrict the remote access without user interaction to 1 or 2 LANDESK operators only, not to all remote control operators.

I know that we can create separate set of LANDESK agent to be able to remote control without user permission.

But it does not restrict to approved LANDESK remote control operator only. All LANDESK operators with remote control access can remote control the PC without permission.

What we want is only allow approved administrator to remote control the PC without permission while the rest of the LANDESK operator follows the normal procedures (user gets prompt to ask for remote control access. If the user click "Yes", only one can remote control the screen).

I can't figure out how to restrict the permission to particular admin only.

Is there a way to do this? I am using LANDESK 9, SP2.

Appreciate if someone can shred some lights on this.

Thanks.

Upgrade from 9.5 to 9.6 we have lost remote control functionality.

Okay first time here and well there are problems gathered up in our system.

We currently have a problem with remote control access.

We have checked Component services (landesk and landesk1). User identify settings have been triple checked and we have no remote access now allowed to any computers, well we have 2 virtual computers that are test machines and they work. Basic structure is the same and LDAP OU build is the same with these. Was it port 9595 which was in one of these problems mentioned is also allowed. Now we currently need more suggestions which direction to go to get the new Landesk version going.

I'll be happy to give you more information, but I have been working at this the whole day and currently I am beat and can't think of anything else that could matter.

We are using the most secure Integrated security for the remote connections. But we have failed to get RC to work. So suggestion what needs to be done are highly appreciated.

I am trying to understand what it would take for full adoption of HTML remote control so that we could EOL the old viewer. I know HTML is missing several key features to have parity with the Classic viewer. What are the missing features preventing you from adopting HTML remote control as your primary viewer?

When using this tool and connecting to the CSA/device I get this message "This list shows the customers currently waiting for assistance"

The thing is that the second "CUSTOMER" in the list is a machine that no longer exist, is not even in my core (it was deleted, many days prior to this test)

Why is it showing in this List?

Regards.

I would like to have a scheduled task available that would allow me to disable the permission required prompt when using remote control.  I would also like to have a task enable it also.  I have done this in the past but cannot remember how to accomplish this.

Disabling or Removing the LANDesk Remote Control Mirror Driver

We have found an issue with the installed remote control mirror driver on our systems.  It interferes with our Unix thin client installations when we remote into these systems.  It appears that you really have no choice when installing the client agent with Remote Control capabilities as to whether the mirror driver gets installed or not, is this correct?  I've tried unchecking the settings within the agent configuration to not use the mirror driver under Remote Control | Indicators | Agent Settings and then rolling out an agent update, but this doesn't seem to change anything.  The only way I've found to remove the mirror driver is either disabling it or totally removing it from Device Manager.  I found another thread that stated the mirror driver used to be in Add/Remove Programs, but was removed in later versions by LANDesk.  We are running v8.8 SP1.  I'm primarily looking for an easy way to either disable or remove the mirror driver from all of our clients through LANDesk.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

remote control on LANDesk 9.6

So we successfully completed the standup of a new LANDesk 9.6 server using Server 2012 and we were able to use the console to talk to the 9.0 agents that still existed and then push out the new 9.60.3.64 client.  The question or challenge that i have now is why some of those computers are not registering the binoculars or mouse symbols when viewing them in console.  I can remote into them via HTML5, I can see that they have the most updated client and the correct user and I know the machine(s) are online so they why no binoculars or mouse so that we can use console based remote control?

I'm hoping to troubleshoot but also understand how exactly that process works.

Thanks in advance.

RC via CSA end user prompt to accept the connection

Under Remote Control Settings there are 4 main options, for security purposes, I need the Client to prompt to accept the connection I have tried all the options with the following results:

Option 1: "Permission not needed, full access"

RESULT: Works fine

Option 2: "End User must grant permission and must be logged in"

RESULT ERROR: Remote User has denied permission to remote control (No prompt)

Option 3: "End User must grant permission but only if they are logged in"

RESULT ERROR: Connects but takes over the machine, only 1 user allowed (logs the normal user out)

Option 4: "End user must grant permission"

RESULT ERROR: Timed out waiting for the remote user to grant permission

When attempting to connect to certain machines we are prompted with, "Credentials Required".

"The currently logged-in users does not have rights to access the remote computer.  You must provide the user name, password, and domain of an account that is authorized to control the remote computer."

The account we are using is authorized.  We are all 8.8 SP3 and XP SP2.  Any ideas out there?

I have read the articles available for this issue, but they don't seem to apply to us and they are over a year old.

I can browse to http://{Agent_Name}:9595 and Simple File Sharing is not enabled.

Hello !

I hope you could help concerning an issue I am facing : a computer (a lot of computer are working perfectly) which does not have the remote control icon = not able to remote control.

I tried:

  • Http://computer:9595 is working
  • Telnet 9535 is working both sides (CoreServer, Client)
  • I deployed again and again the agent
  • I ran cba8inst.msi
  • I ran issuser.exe /resident

...and the icon is still absent.

I have only this clue when I created the isswuser32.log :

rcgui.exe starting multiple times

We are seeing problems with multiple rcgui executables running. When a technian tries to connect using LD remote control more rcgui.exe start but the current process is still running and therefore a new rcgui process starts up. This is causing the techian not to be able to connect and only gets a black screen. So in this case ending the process for issuer.exe only kills 1 of the rcgui.exe but the others remain. The only work around we have found is having the user reboot their PC which doesn't help when trying to fix a issue. Does anyone know how to stop the multiple rcgui.exe or kill all of them without rebooting? Stopping the LANDesk remote control service only kills 1 rcgui.exe process.

We are on LD 9 no service pack. We have also tested on LD9 SP2 and have the same issues.

While attempting to remote to a users computer I am only able to pull up a blank screen. I can remote to them through remote desktop connection but unable to in landesk. I am able to remote to several other computers including some in the same are as the problem pc. I have performed a full sync and redeployed the agent configuration but those dont appear to have helped. I am new to LANDesk so I am not sure what other steps to take. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to setup "Request Permission for Remote Control"

$

We have Landesk 8.7 SP3 [yes I know its out of date] and we have the remote agent deployed to some 1500 machines, so making the change to 8.8 is a bit of a mammoth task, unless there is a short cut.

Anyway onto my question.

If we need to remote control a machine, we just right click and do Remote Control and user doesnt need to give me permission to control their machine or anything like that.

Now one user wants to block this "free" access and wants to click yes please control my pc button, but I do not know how I can do this to just one machine?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Dave

I’m having difficult time configuring remote control.  If I set the agent for “Permission not needed” it works fine.  However, I consistently receive the message “You do not have rights to access the remote computer” when any “End user must grant permission” is selected.
RC is being attempted from the LD Core server

I am logged in with the account that installed LD and acct is a domain admin with rights on the local workstation and is in the LanDesk Administrators group.

I can RDP to the workstation with this account.

It doesn't matter what info, if any I add into the "Remote Control operator groups"  or whether the box is unchecked.  When I went through the config w/ professional svcs, these boxes were left blank.

I am trying to get Classroom Manager to work over our wireless network.  I can get it to work across vlans when connected via ethernet cable but when I connect both machines via wireless I can not get the teacher console to discover the student machine.  This is whether they are both on the same wireless vlan or not.  I have tried the IP-directed broadcast option putting in both subnets(address was calculated by DirBCastAddr.exe) and it still does not work.  What needs to be configured on on the computers or  our wireless network to allow for the product to function correctly over the wireless?
