Disable Switch Mode Button

Is there a way to disable the switch mode button in the Remote Control icon window?  I'd like to disable it for all computers other than laptops?  I know I can create a policy that forces direct mode, but I'd like to try and help prevent a user switching it to gateway.

Black screen

Some of my servers do not display for remote control.  I have three identical servers.  One works correctly.  Two display only a black screen when using remote control.  Web console does not work.  Mirror driver and screen blanking is off.  Any ideas?

Disable Remote keyboard/mouse access

I have a customer that wants to be able to view what is happening on a remote PC, but does not want to have any keyboard/mouse access. Can you disable the KB/Mouse in the RCViewer on the controling PC? This is only 1 PC and will have a limited number of users remotely viewing it. This is the first time I've had a request like this and it is a little odd but I hope I can do it via Landesk.

I looked but briefly.  Is there a way of killing a remote control session remotely?  I have some staff that leave remote control sessions up and walk away from the desk.

How to reset username and password?

Hi,

 

 

I am trying to reset the username and the password for the client machines from the server. I right clicked on the particular device and clicked the option " Manage local users and groups ". And I am able to set a new password for the client system. But I am not able to change the username . Is there any other way to reset the username and the password of the client system from the landesk server?

 

 

 

 

 

Keyboard and Mouse greyed out

When I remote one of my clients in this case (Windows 7 Pro 64bit Laptop), I am unable to use the mouse or keyboard remotely but can see the desktop of the client.  Keyboard and mouse is greyed out.  I have remoted another client with same OS and works fine.  Have removed and added agent on machine and disabled firewall.  Still not luck.  Any ideas?

Remote Control not working

Hi Community

 

first we had the problem that the patching of our clients did not work.

On advice of the LANDesk-Support we installed LDMS 9.5 SP1.

 

Now on my test clients the Remote Agent is not working.

 

System:

Testclient 1 running on: Windows XP Professional, 32-bit, SP3

Testclient 2 running on: Windows 8 Pro, 64-Bit

LDMS 9.5 SP1 running on: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, 64-bit, SP1

 

Symptoms:

1. Errormessage when trying to remote control one of those clients:

Unable to establish a secure session with the remote computer (-5)

 

2. Due the installation of the LANDesk-Agent we got the following error message on the client: "The application could not be started, because LIBEAY32MT.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may solve the problem". I receive the same error message when i try to un- and reinstall the issuser with the following commands:

C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\issuser.exe /remove

C:\Program Files\LANDesk\LDClient\issuser.exe /resident

 

3. When i have a look at the agents on the client (right click client - properties - agents) the remote control agent status is not loaded. On the clients which are working the agent status is loaded.

 

4. The remote agent service (issuser.exe) couldn't be installed on the client.

 

5. In the survey of all devices in the LDMS the fault clients just got the symbol with the "field glasses". The "remote control symbol" is missing.

 

Troubleshooting:

1. Created a new Agent

 

2. Created a Advanced Agent

 

3. Run Uninstallwinclient.exe and reinstalled the agent after a reboot.

 

4. Reinstalled the old Agent which is working properly.

 

 

Does anybody have some ideas?

Does anyone know if there is a way to configure chat through the remote control console so that it doesn't ask for permission? I still want send a chat request to remote users with out having them accept the chat request. I want a box to pop up on their screen with a message. I have had scenarios where a desktop isn't near a phone and the user is not at the desk to accept the request for me to send a message to call me when they are available. I don't want to change the security feature where permission needs to be granted for remote control.

Remote Control Configuration

I’m having difficult time configuring remote control.  If I set the agent for “Permission not needed” it works fine.  However, I consistently receive the message “You do not have rights to access the remote computer” when any “End user must grant permission” is selected.
RC is being attempted from the LD Core server


I am logged in with the account that installed LD and acct is a domain admin with rights on the local workstation and is in the LanDesk Administrators group.

I can RDP to the workstation with this account.

It doesn't matter what info, if any I add into the "Remote Control operator groups"  or whether the box is unchecked.  When I went through the config w/ professional svcs, these boxes were left blank.

What the heck am I missing?

- Authentication Failure - invalid credentials or no rights to remote control.

 

My technicians and I used to be able to use remote control. How does the access get removed if it was previously granted? How can the access be granted again?

 

I was able to right-click and use html5 remote control from the LDMS server, but if I exit and immediately try to log in again from the browser, it gives the 'auth fail' message.

 

I do not want to have to go to the server every time just to remote control a pc, and I would like my techs to be able to do their jobs remotely as well. What can I do to resolve this?

Hello!

 

I am receiving the error Receive failed: 0. when trying to remote into two production servers.  I'm stumped because I can remote to other computers just fine and my google-fu for this error has proved weak ;-)

 

Any help will be appreciated!!

LANDesk Remote Control Viewer Crash after remote user accept the connection

Hello,

 

I am facing a random issue with LANDesk Remote Control Viewer in LANDesk 2016

 

Here is how I am doing

 

I am using "C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\ServerManager\RCViewer\isscntr.exe" -c"Remote Control" from the computer

The target receive a message to accept the connection and accept it

The target screen become Black

The LANDesk Remote Control Viewer become grey on my computer then crash

 

Sometime doing Windows + L and enter the credentials will make remote screen back to normal and sometime not.

In this case the only option left is reboot...

Enable HTML Remote Control for "IT Help Desk"

Hello -

Hoping this is something dumb I've missed.  Is there somewhere specific I have to enable HTML Remote Control for a user role - in addition to the standard Remote Control?

 

Our "IT Help Desk" users have Remote Control Tools enabled, including View and Edit for the "Remote Control" feature.  Direct and Gateway Remote Control work fine for them, for user on LAN and WAN - no issues that I am aware of.  Both the "LANDesk Administrator" and "IT Help Desk" roles appear the same in the configuration - screen print is below.

 

They are unable to use the HTML Remote Control feature though.  After entering credentials they receive a pop-up that states "Message from webpage - Invalid username, password, or domain!".

 

If it matters, they are local administrators on the workstations.

 

The HTML Remote Control feature works for users with the "LANDesk Administrator" role (which have only "user" local rights on the target workstations).

 

I have tested from the same source machine and source browser to the same target machines.  In all cases the issue persists - it functions for users with "LANDesk Administrator" role, but not "IT Help Desk" role.

 

We're running 9.5 SP2.

Remote Control fails to all systems after upgrade to 2017.1

Upgraded from 2016.3 to 2017.1 and can no longer Remote Control direct or CSA to any system using legacy or HTML.  If I deploy a 2017 Agent then Remote Control works without issue.  That means I have to deploy 3000+ agents ASAP. Issue there is if you have any legacy agents due to Win2003 or XP, then RC will never function again.   This is the first upgrade I have done since 8.0 that you could not Remote Control to the agents of a previous version.  Other features seem to have no issues thou.  Ideas or thoughts anyone?

 

- All Remote Controls attempts are from the Core server itself, I have tried remote console but have same issue.

- verified certs are in the Keys folder on Core and that the matching .0 file is on the client system

- rebuilt the 2 com+ objects

- rebooted CSA and Core multiple times

- received Update 1 for 2017 from support and applied, no change.

- RC Settings:  "Integrated Security" and "No Permission not needed, Full Access"

 

Tad bit stressed since my Service Desk folks cant remote to any users for the moment.

I am rather a jr. woodchuck on Landesk.   Using the LanDESK 8.8 SP2

Here is what I am trying to accomplish.

 

I have some laptop users that we would like to be able to remote control their systems while they are local or remote via VPN.  We want to see if this can be accomplished without the gateway applicance.  We are currently looking at being able to support users though the VPN process, rather then having ot install and configure a Gateway in Automatic mode, to reduce the amount of end user requiremest to access support.

 

Here are some of my finding so far:

 

The inventory settings will see the Wired and Wireless IP address.


It seems that to get the 3rd IP address from the VPN connection, a full scan must be run while the Wireless is connected  (is this correct), as it does not seem that the 3rd, Network TCPIP port will not show the Bound status to the VPN Miniport until this is done?

 

Once the 3 ports show up, the miniscan seems to take over and update the inventory properly for the 3 IP address.

 

I have checked the settings for the Inventory updates, that are currently set to the default 10 mins for Miniscan.exe to run.

 

It seems that I can push software and patches to either the wired or VPN connections after the Miniscan has run to update the proper IP.

The issue becomes when I try to verify a connection use the remote control to the system.

 

Once I change the system from LAN to Wireless with VPN, and ensure that the miniscan runs on it's normal schedule to update the inventory IP address.

 

On the Landesk concole, I right click on my test system and select the REMOTE CONTROL, the new screen appears and tries to connect to the wiried IP, but does not seem to  try the actual new IP address that is listed in the Systems INVENTORY that reports the updated IP.

 

Any thoughts?

Remote Control on Lock Workstation doesn't work (anymore)

Hello everybody,

 

Since a year we have a strange behavoiur about our RC.Remote Control on the status of Workstation Locked or waiting for Login (Ctrl+alt+del) doesn't work. In the past we could and we know how important is in some situation. The settings are fine (we haven't changed). I tried set for modem connection, switch off the "keyboard setting", I think I changed everything. The system hangs at "Initializing keyboard filter". I attached a log for example. This happens both RC with the program and HTML. Thank you in advance.
